Q. How much influence do assessments have in the recruitment and selection process?

A. I would say that roughly 80% of the time assessments simply confirm what the interviewers at company already know about a candidate. In my experience working with Fortune 500 companies they all have a different threshold for how they handle an outlier who either didn’t test well or does not meet their profile for a specific position. Keep in mind that most organizations will only send their final candidates through the assessment process because it costs them money for each candidate that they assess. In theory you can assume that “they like you” if they are investing in an assessment. No mater what, it can be extremely difficult to overcome a poor assessment even sometimes after an offer is made.
