False Starts Impact Your Career
Have you noticed that with every corporate program that your company roles out you have less and less enthusiasm towards it? Or, with each time you contemplate a job search you have less energy or even perhaps take a miserable attempt towards the effort? Clients have reported this professional fatigue and expressed the pure exhaustion that they have when taking a half-hearted approach towards something. It is simply deflating and the rewards are minimal when we take this approach yet we repeatedly find that we don’t have enough time, energy or both to give 100% and so we go through the motions. I call this a False Start.
What kind of rewards come from a half-hearted effort? That’s right, half-hearted rewards or no rewards at all! If you stay in this cycle for too long and it becomes vicious and career limiting.
What are you False Starting?
What are you currently doing with 50% effort (or less) that is getting you no rewards? What are you going to do today to change this for yourself?
I want to hear from you!
This has been the topic of many coaching conversations with business professionals as of late. I would love to hear from more of you who have encountered this an concurred it. What did you do to get out of the trap of false starts? Share your ideas in the comment section below.
